KTrax Terms and Conditions
Our commitments
- We run KTrax with the intention of providing a valuable
quality service to the gliding and General Aviation community.
- Our services are best effort, but with our proven
fast responsiveness.
- We commit to doing maintenance work on the server during
times of low traffic to minimize user disruption.
- We keep backups to ensure minimum data loss
in case of disruptions.
- For paying customers, we commit to personalized
support with fast response times.
- Data from KTrax is public and can be shared under the
Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL).
Your commitments
- You agree to edit data in the
DDB
only if you are the owner of the aircraft or acting
on their behalf.
- You agree to
check in as flight crew
only if you are actually piloting the aircraft or acting
on their behalf.
- The Logbook requires an OGN receiver station at your site.
You are responsible for running it.
We cannot provide support, but you are welcome
to contact the
OGN forum for help.
As of 2021, we introduced a station health monitoring page
available here.

You agree to query backend REST APIs only with a reasonable
low frequency (defined by KTrax) and only after requesting an API key.

If you use a KTrax airport plan: You agree to obligate pilots
flying at your airport to make DDB and tracking data available to
KTrax via the OGN. You agree to operate an OGN station at your
airport at your own cost responsibility.

If you use a KTrax callsign plan: You agree make your DDB and
tracking data available to KTrax via the OGN.
Opt-out

how to opt out from KTrax services.
Other terms
- All aircraft must be registered in the
DDB for KTrax service.
- KTrax depends on data from the
DDB and the public Open Glider Network (OGN) APRS servers.
You understand and accept that any disruption or cessation of
these servers or its sources (OGN stations) will disrupt KTrax services
and no warranty or liability exists in this case.
- Logbook service at airports other than your home airport
require an OGN station on site (you can bring your own).
- Any free KTrax services (tracking, SAR, range analyser, station
monitoring etc.) may be changed or cancelled at our sole discretion
at any time.
- Please update your paper flight logs within reasonable time (once
per week or month). For paying customers, we keep Logbook data for a
the time period specified in the plan, but data
processing and retention is best effort. There is no warranty or liability
in case of data loss on our side.
- There is no warranty or liability by KTrax in case of disruption
or cessation of any part of the OGN system (DDB, APRS servers, ...)
or in case KTrax gets locked out from usage of OGN data.
- You acknowledge that data aggregated by KTrax
(Logbook, range analyser, tracking and station monitoring, etc.)
are public.
- Crew data can be hidden by a shared convenience password. It is
accessible to anyone with the password.
You agree to use this password only on KTrax and no other
site on the internet.
- You acknowledge that
crew checkin data
can be modified by anyone.
Payments
In exchange for processing and refining the OGN data, we may collect
payments. Please see here for details.
Data Protection
We may contact you by email occasionally, e.g. to inform you about
new features, heads-up about expiring subscriptions etc.
